Caring for the space

We do not have so much room, so it is important we keep the space friendly and inviting.

Refreshments

Shared food and tea, coffee should go in the box by the door. Make sure to keep the lid on to avoid attracting rodents.

We have a cafetière (French press), and we have a large teapot, and a variety of tea. For the opening party, we also acquired a 5L hot water dispenser, which saw good use. Feel free to borrow it!

Mugs, plates and cutlery are in the common area. Make sure to wash up when leaving.

Consumables

Nisbets (catering business) is just around the corner, further up Glassford St. This sells large blue rolls of tissue, cutlery, cups, that sort of thing. For stationery, there is a large Ryman near Central station, useful for getting whiteboard markers.

Bins and recycling

The common area outside the space has:

  • General waste by the kitchen
  • Food waste in the kitchen (e.g. teabags, coffee grounds, orange peel)
  • Recycling in the area to the left of the kitchen

For disposing of large items or bin bags, visit the courtyard. You can get there by going down the stairs to the right of the lift on the ground floor. There are large general waste and mixed (dry) recycling bins. The door is latched, but make sure to close it when you come back in.

Although we have a bin in the space, it is for odds and ends such as wire cuttings. Try to use the common area bins as these are emptied by the building. At minimum, don't put food / cans in the space's bin, and if you see it getting full, take the bin bag to the courtyard.

Food waste

Food waste and wrappers are not to be left out or put in the space's bin. This is a Glasgow building and evidence of gnawing has been found!

Open food to be kept for later (e.g. oatcakes) should go in the refreshments box immediately adjacent to the bin. Make sure to secure the lid. Perishible items should go in the common area fridge, but we need to make sure to empty these (e.g. milk goes off) to keep our neighbours happy.
