This is a Wiki for organising the Glasgow Hackerspace. Hackerspaces are community workshops, providing tools and equipment for members to work with, and somewhere to socialise and discuss ideas. Hackerspaces are a bit like an artists' collective, a bit like a lab, and are grassroots community orgs sustained by membership contribution.

There are also other similar spaces to ours throughout Scotland.

As of 15/11/2024, we have a permanent space in South Block (see space for more details).

As well as this wiki, we have a discord server.

Our discord server's #general channel is bridged to both IRC and Matrix:

• IRC: #glashack on hackint
• Matrix: #glashack:hackint.org

You can also email us at glasgowmakercollective@proton.me.

We run weekly open nights in our space in South Block, every Wednesday at 7pm.

More info about these can be found in our Discord server. The entrance is to the left of the South Block reception. This is a shared building, and the reception is only open 9-5, but we are open all hours.

See general information about caring for the space.

When you arrive, send us a message pinging @doorbell (see: doorbell) on Discord, and someone will come down to let you in.

Note - writing @doorbell does not yet work on our irc/matrix channels, you'll have to write <@1377372383089787034> to actually ring the bell.

We host a regular reading group at 7pm on the first Monday of each month, open to all. See the page for information on our current reading!

Check the calendar to see upcoming events (including the open night and regular meetups!).

If you're curious about some of the things we do, check out our projects page!

Information about becoming a member can be found on this page.

Articles governing Glasgow Hackerspace CIC can be found on our github.
