Glasgow Hackerspace Wiki
This is a Wiki for organising the Glasgow Hackerspace. Hackerspaces are community workshops, providing tools and equipment for members to work with, and somewhere to socialise and discuss ideas. Hackerspaces are a bit like an artists' collective, a bit like a lab, and are grassroots community orgs sustained by membership contribution.
As of 15/11/2024, we have a permanent space in South Block.
As well as this wiki, we have a discord server. You can email us at glasgowmakercollective@proton.me. You can also check out our IRC channel, #glashack on hackint.
Opening Party: Saturday 15/02/2025, 3-8 p.m.
We've been open for a little while now, and we're holding an opening party, to launch the space! We've started filling the space up with furniture and equipment, and we're excited to let you see it.
We will present a talk, at around 5 p.m., introducing hackerspaces, and how we got to where we are, and what we hope to do. There will be snacks and refreshments. Club Maté will be available. Donations are welcome, and we are also open to membership applications!
Meetups and open nights
We run weekly open nights in our space in South Block, every Wednesday at 7pm.
More info about these can be found in our Discord server. The entrance is between the plant shop and the building reception. This is a shared building, and the reception is only open 9-5, but we are open all hours. When you arrive, send us a message on Discord or IRC, and someone will come down to let you in.
